Settlement reached!
A tentative settlement was reached at midnight Friday, March
7. There will be a TFEU membership meeting Thursday, March
13, 11:30 to 1:00, Prior/Sutherland Boardrooms (2nd floor,
BCTF building), to consider whether to accept the proposed
agreement.
The settlement includes:
- Salary improvement of 15.2% over 5 years with the breakdown
as follows:
- July 1, 2007 3.6%
- July 1, 2008 3.0%
- July 1, 2009 3.0%
- July 1, 2010 3.0%
- July 1, 2011 2.6%
- Signing bonus of $3,800
- SIP allowance to be pensionable earnings
- Additional vacation week in third year of employment
- Automatic conversion to continuing status for term employees
with 36 months service
- In exchange for improvement in term conversion language,
an increase in length of probation period to four months,
with up to two additional months by mutual agreement
- No change to bonusing language in current collective agreement
- Loss of retiree benefits for future employees
- Allowances for members with graduate degrees related to
their assignment.
- Letter of Understanding providing for union and employer
to discuss a possible allowance for TFEU members with professional
qualifications related to their assignment
- Dental for disabled children
- Acupuncture coverage improved from $100 per year to unlimited.
- Part-time employees to have access to extra hours ahead
of casuals
Please note, all TFEU job action will cease
as of Friday, March 7.
