The Teachers’ Federation Employees’ Union members are a diverse group of highly educated people who work for the BCTF and provide services to members. Recently it has become obvious that many teachers have no idea who we are or what we provide in the way of services to them. This section of our web site will introduce you to some of them!
CCD has twelve staff: six in the communications area, four in the Graphics Department, and two in the Executive Offices.
Bev is an administrative secretary working with media relations staff publishing electronic media, e.g., news releases, school staff alerts, and BCTF e-alerts. Bev copyedits and proofreads many documents, supports the Federation’s large meetings and public education conferences, and obtains quotes and orders for BCTF memorabilia.
Joan is the administrative secretary to the Director of CCD. Joan works on many communication and campaign projects and also supports the Federation’s large meetings.
Kathleen is assistant editor of Teacher newsmagazine and co-ordinator of all print publications going to all teachers, e.g., newsmag, BCTF News, Did You Know poster, Dear colleague letters, and committee postings, etc. Call Kathleen about issues regarding the newsmagazine including advertising.
Lise is the support staff supervisor working closely with everyone to co-ordinate the communications and campaigns of the BCTF. Lise is responsible for the physical preparations and staffing for all the large meetings of the BCTF.
Mary is administrative assistant and recording secretary to the BCTF Executive Committee. Her duties include organizing meetings such as the AGM, RAs, and presidents’ meetings. She works closely with the executive director on governance issues within the Federation.
Ruby is an administrative secretary working with the parent support programs such as parent presentations and also supports electronic publishing. Ruby also works with outside agencies and BCTF partner groups.
There are two staff in this office area. Their combined service to the BCTF is over 50 years.
Debbie is administrative assistant to the executive director and supports the large meetings of the Federation, e.g., recording secretary for RAs, AGMs, and backup to Executive Committee meetings. Debbie updates and co-ordinates the production of the Members’ Guide to the BCTF and updates the BCTF calendar of events on the web.
Verna is administrative assistant to the full-time table officers, reviews all communications to and from the president, schedules itineraries and works closely with FTTOs on all aspects of their work for the Federation. Along with many governance responsibilities, Verna also co-ordinates and oversees any votes conducted by the Federation.
The four artists in the Graphics Department have 75 years of service with the Federation.
The department's main purpose is to ensure that the BCTF's campaigns are communicated professionally, in a timely manner. Materials ranging from bookmarks to media backdrops, and lesson aids to protest banners are produced by this talented department, using a range of skills. The department also works closely with local associations to produce newspaper ads throughout the year.
