The Teachers' Federation Employees' Union (TFEU) represents support staff at the BCTF office, the Surrey Teachers (STA) and Vancouver Elementary School Teachers (VESTA) offices. There are about 140 TFEU members at BCTF, including accountants and accounting clerks, administrative assistants and secretaries, maintenance workers, researchers, claims officers, archivists, graphic artists, data entry operators, IT help desk workers, editors, facilities managers, librarians, network administrators, programmers, mailroom and bindery clerks, records management specialists. For more information about what we do for the teachers of BC, see Who are the members of TFEU.
TFEU is proud of our record of membership involvement and democracy (see constitution and by-laws). More than a third of TFEU members are on committees elected to carry out the business of the union. For a list of committees and their membership, see Executive and committee members.
Our union and its predecessors (UTFE and UTFE/IWA) have been actively involved in the labour movement and the community for 26 years. We are affiliated to the Vancouver and District Labour Council. TFEU acted strongly in solidarity with our sister union CEP while they were locked out last spring (see Past Events for more on the history of TFEU).
